Cubase Vocal Tuning: One Knob, Then Back to the Music

VariAudio is powerful and slow. VocaTune is the opposite: insert, turn, done. Keep VariAudio for the one note you want to rewrite, and let VocaTune handle the other 200.

01

Add VocaTune as an insert

Open the vocal channel's Inserts rack and choose VocaTune (VST3).

02

Turn the knob

Studio for most productions; Extreme when the genre wants it obvious.

03

Render in place

Print the tuned vocal when you're happy and carry on arranging.

Little things that make it sound pro

  • • Set your project key so the snapping stays inside the song.
  • • Use lower settings on emotional ballad takes — a little imperfection is the performance.
  • • Duplicate the insert onto harmony tracks for a consistent, tuned stack.

Cubase questions

Does VocaTune replace VariAudio?

For everyday tuning, yes — it's dramatically faster. VariAudio still wins when you need to rewrite a melody note by note.

Is it CPU friendly?

Yes, it's built for low CPU so you can run it across a whole vocal stack.
